چکیده

Disconnected mobile ad hoc networks (or D-MANETs) are partially or intermittently connected wireless networks, in which continuous end-to-end connectivity between mobile nodes is not guaranteed. The ability to selfform and self-manage brings great opportunities for D-MANETs, but developing distributed applications capable of running in such networks remains a major challenge. A middleware system is thus needed between network level and application level in order to ease application development, and help developers take advantage of the unique features of D-MANETs. In this paper, we introduce a peer-to-peer JavaSpaces implementation that we specifically designed for D-MANETs, and with which pre-existing or new JavaSpaces-based applications can be easily deployed in such networks.

Determining the Appropriate Thresholds for P2P Content File Sharing in Disconnected MANETs

Peer 2 Peer over MANETs is the largely popular used pattern of file sharing within MANETs. P2P system is started in the middle of 1990s. P2P system is deployed on the Internet which is formed by creating an overlay network. P2P overlay consists of upper-layer connections among nodes, or peers, which are selfdetermining of the underlay or substrate network, abstract peer’s view of the connection...

Spoon-P2P Content-Based File Sharing in Disconnected Manets

Present peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution methods in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) can be divided into three categories: local broadcasting based advertisement (push) and discovery (pull)-based and contact-based. The first two techniques can simply be time consuming and low ability to accommodate when the demand grows higher. They are mainly developed for linked MANETs, in which end-to-end...

MELON: A Persistent Message-Based Communication Paradigm for MANETs

In this paper we introduce MELON, a new communication paradigm tailored to mobile ad hoc networks, based on novel interactions with a distributed shared message store. MELON provides removeonly, read-only, and private messages, as well as bulk message operations. The dynamic nature of MANETs is addressed with persistent messages, completely distributed message storage, and flexible communicatio...

A Self-Organising Federation of Alchemi Desktop Grids

Desktop grids presents a next generation platform for aggregating the idle processing cycles of desktop computers. However, in order to efficiently harness the power of millions of desktop computers, the systems or middlewares that can support high level of efficiency, scalability, robustness and manageability are required. In this paper, we propose a scalable and self-organising desktop grid s...

Minimizing DHT Routing Stretch in MANETs

Since the appearance of Napster in early 1999, peer-to-peer (P2P) networks have experienced tremendous growth. The P2P architectures can be categorized into two main classes: unstructured and structured P2P overlays. Unstructured overlays do not impose a rigid relation between the overlay topology and the indices/resources placement, as flooding or random walks are used to locate resources [3]....
